• Little Governor’s Camp

The camp that Africa’s old hands swear by, Little Governor’s casts its spell over all who visit from honeymooning couples to Presidents. “Our favorite camp in the Mara” according to the guide ‘Kenya’s Best’. The guide adds: “There is something about this camp that is very friendly, yet private. Guests seem to enjoy mingling with the staff and each other, and because of the smallness of the camp, you really feel special.” Getting here is an adventure in itself and you will first need to cross the Mara River by boat, then a short walk (escorted by armed rangers) through the forest.  Intimate in character, there are just 17 tents tucked around a large watering-hole that teems with animal and bird life. From every veranda the view changes daily: Giraffe and Lion, Elephant and Warthog.  All the tents are comfortable and tasteful with en-suite bathroom, hot water, even bidets. In keeping with safari tradition lighting is by gas and kerosene lantern or candlelight. As dusk falls, the flickering lights in the forest make the camp a uniquely peaceful and atmospheric place. Meals are of superlative standards, served, as is the style, outdoors during the day or in our candlelit dining tent. At Governors’ Camp we’re happy to cater for all tastes or needs, just let us know. Come the evening it’s time for chilled drinks and tall tales around the blazing campfire and then, finally, a delicious dinner and a hot-water bottle to keep you warm in bed.
