Mara Plains Camp sits right in the heart of some of the greatest predator country in Africa on the northern border of the Masai Mara Game Reserve in the Olare Orok Conservancy. Rarely a night passes without lion roaring nearby, while leopard regularly wander through the camp. As one of just three camps currently operating within the Conservancy, guests benefit from the region’s lowest vehicle density and with just one guest room per 700 acres, guests enjoy a sense of remote exclusivity.
The camp’s capacity peaks at just 14 guests in seven uniquely designed octagonal canvas rooms. Each sits on raised decks, and opens on three sides to connect guests with their natural surroundings. Floor to ceiling net walls and the marquis ceiling make for very open-air environs. Each room also has a dressing area as well as private sitting verandah with exquisite views. En-suite facilities consist of a double basin vanity, flush toilet and shower with hot water available 24 hours a day.
Mara Plains offers possibly the widest range of activities anywhere in the greater Masai Mara – game drives, quality night drives, nature walks with armed guides, balloon safaris (at extra cost), local village visits (authentic) and unrivalled access to superior wildlife habitat.
