• Singita Ebony Lodge

Singita Private Game Reserve, located in the game-rich Sabi Sand Reserve, offers exquisite luxury, rare solitude and perfect tranquillity. Singita, which means “The Miracle” in the local Shangaan language, has two distinctive lodges, both of which are members of Relais & Chateaux.  Singita Ebony Lodge has eight beautifully appointed double suites set in shady woodland above the Sand River.  Each suite has an en-suite bathroom, complete with outdoor shower, a double-sided fireplace, air-conditioning, private leisure deck and living area.  There is an outdoor “boma” and swimming pool.  Singita Boulders Lodge is set at the base of a dolerite rise, and has 12 sunken suites of glass and baluwood.  Each suite has a lounge area, en suite bathroom and outdoor shower and a private outdoor deck with flow pool.  Dinner is served by the light of oil lamps on the moonlit deck or in the library, surrounded by a fine collection of antique and modern books on Africa.  Boulders has a unique wine cellar burrowed unto the bedrocks, where guests can choose from 12 000 bottles of South Africa’s award winning wines.  Guests at Singita can enjoy dawn and dusk game drives or walking safaris under the guidance of skilled rangers and Shangaan trackers.  There is also a fully equipped gym at Boulders and a safari boutique servicing both lodges.

Singita’s ambience is distinctively African. Organic furnishings make up the textures and colors that create the unique, legendary mood. Contemporary architecture sees your individual double suite sensitively designed to ensure low impact on the environment. Each suite, built into the landscape on a cliff’s edge, will allow you to view the wildlife on the flat, open plains across the Sand River, while soaking in your Victorian-styled bath. Walls of sliding glass accentuate breathtaking views.

This is Africa’s big game terrain, so of course your days and early nights blissfully revolve around spectacular game viewing drives in open safari land rovers. Only three vehicles are allowed per sighting, and only six people per vehicle. A professional game ranger and Shangaan tracker from the local community will enlighten you with their profound knowledge of the bush game. In the quiet beautiful bush you can track Africa’s big five, elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino.
