• Phinda Vlei Lodge

Phinda Vlei Lodge is situated within the Phinda Private Game Reserve in the Maputaland region of KwaZulu-Natal. Fringing a unique vlei (wetland) system, this gracious safari lodge is a study of intimacy and integration with the African bush.

Six stilted glass and thatch suites blend North and West African styles with hints of Balinese influence to create an air of understated sophistication and luxury. Each features a spacious bedroom with en suite bathroom, air-conditioning, private plunge pool, en suite bathroom, personal bar, and private sitting area with open fireplace.

Additionally, their ideal location overlooking the grassy vlei makes for great sightings of a variety of wildlife including herds of zebra and grazing antelope, such as the famously shy suni and red duiker.

Enjoy delicious Pan-African cuisine served in the dining area under hand-wrought chandeliers, on the Lodge’s exclusive deck or in the privacy of your suite. Additionally, Phinda is renowned for excellent cuisine served in adventurous bush settings under the African night sky.

Phinda is a Big Five destination and boasts excellent cheetah, white and black rhino, elephant, nyala, and lion viewing. Birding enthusiasts will find over 400 different species in the area as well.
In addition to twice-daily game-drives, nature walks, riverboat cruises and canoe trips along the Mzinene River (at no additional cost), Phinda’s proximity to the Indian Ocean offers guests a variety of optional adventure activities, from scuba diving and deep-sea fishing to spectacular air safaris.

Visits to local communities can also be arranged, granting a rare and welcome insight into Zulu culture, crafts, history, tradition, and modern day life.
